Hi, I am Joshua Kok.
I am a documentary filmmaker who captures the stories of senior artists and craftsmen. Self-taught in filmmaking, my approach is straightforward: I follow my storytellers, allowing their stories to unfold naturally.
My most notable work is "Building the Beca," producing an artisanal video as a manual in building the trishaw or "Beca".

Currently, I am working alongside esteemed Malaysian senior artist, Dato Tay Mo Leong. Documenting his batik-making process through his life.

My goal is to highlight the often-overlooked contributions of senior artists and craftsmen through their stories in hopes of preserving their legacies.
So if you have a story and wish to document and preserve it, I'd love to hear them.
